Grupo Bimbo renews its Global IT Model with RD: 30% lower total cost of service
How Grupo Bimbo replaced an outdated IT services model across 32 countries, cutting the total cost of service by more than 30% and going from 3 to 13 service levels, with the support of RD.
The Challenge
Grupo Bimbo was running a global IT services model that had become outdated and too expensive for its scale: 135,000 employees, 32 countries, and 5 languages.
The model faced excessive costs, an old contract that prevented new capabilities, a global service with only 3 service levels for 32 countries, and constant user dissatisfaction. Executive leadership wanted to cut costs and improve service at the same time.
The Solution
RD supported the company through an end-to-end process: a complete AS-IS assessment, design of the future (TO-BE) model with strategy, architecture, SLAs, and governance, and alignment with the corporate IT strategy.
The project included implementing the new model, managing organizational change, and defining 13 new service levels, replacing the previous limited structure.
RESULTS
Reduction in total cost of service
Expanded global catalog of service levels
Countries under a single governance model
Employees served by the new model
Visibility by region, country, and service type

More than 30% savings on the total cost of the global IT service.
Governance
Greater control and visibility by region, country, and service type.
